"Mentor one child...
Change two lives."
|
Thank you for your interest in becoming a much needed mentor to an at-risk child in our community! The men and women who volunteer to become Big Brothers and Big Sisters come from many different cultures and backgrounds, are all ages, speak many languages, and have a wide diversity of jobs, but they all share a common goal — to provide a child in need with the one-to-one support, guidance, and friendship needed to reach his or her potential.
Our volunteers are...
- Living in Thurston, Lewis, or Mason Counties in Washington State.
- From all walks of life, with varied ages, interests, and cultural backgrounds. Volunteers are usually adults of any age, but we also have programs for high school students to become mentors.
- Committed to being a consistent role-model and to sharing, listening and visiting with their Little Brother or Little Sister.
- Stable, responsible, mature individuals who have the patience, humor, and flexibility to spend time consistently with a child.
Volunteers should be willing to commit their time and energy to a child. To find a program that fits with your schedule and needs, check out our link to our Mentoring Programs.

A Big Brother or Big Sister can open a world of possibilities and opportunities for a young person simply by being a genuine friend. Our mentors often say that they get even more out of their friendship than the Littles, and our Littles grow into adults who want to be involved themselves and help another child.
